“Gaia” is the name of the artistic nude project created by artist Carol Monteiro, which aims to express all the strength, lightness and delicacy of a woman’s body in order to highlight the idea of the Sacred Feminine in a photographic series. The “Gaia” project, a name that refers to a Greek goddess who represents Mother Earth, outlines the diversity of traits, stories, dreams and marks that each of these women with different styles, shapes and occupations carries in their looks and lives, as well magnificently highlighting all the power and energy of women, and of course, avoiding any intimate sexual connotations.
More than forty women have already participated in the project and all of them can use tree leaves, flowers, animals and various objects to compose their photographs. The photos are taken indoors and Carol likes to value natural light to provide a more pleasant environment for women to feel comfortable during the shoot. The project has already participated in exhibitions at festivals such as Soulvision Festival and Terra em Transe Festival, also at the University of Fortaleza and stayed for two months in the Arena space at the Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura, in Ceará.
